Zoning & Building Permits

The Luzerne Co. Planning Commission (zoning office) is responsible for zoning administration and enforcement for Laflin Borough, as well as land subdivision and land development.

Applications required for zoning include, but are not limited to, new construction, additions to existing structures, accessory structures, changes of property use, decks, car ports, sheds, swimming pools, patios with cover, and signs posted on private property.

Note: Please have your property identification number (PIN) available when contacting the office of Luzerne Co. Planning Commission (obtained from your property tax bill).

Completed building permit applications, with supporting documents, can be submitted to the borough office.   If a zoning permit is required (see above), this must be obtained prior to submitting the building permit application.   Note: not all projects require a zoning permit.

Activities that require a building permit (some may require a zoning permit):

Dumpster Permit $25.00 (all dumpsters on roadway or on property; for construction or general clean up)

All excavators must contact PA One Call at least 3 business days prior to excavation, as required by law.   DIAL 8-1-1
