Zoning & Building Permits
The Luzerne Co. Planning Commission (zoning office) is responsible for zoning administration and enforcement for Laflin Borough, as well as land subdivision and land development.
Applications required for zoning include, but are not limited to, new construction, additions to existing structures, accessory structures, changes of property use, decks, car ports, sheds, swimming pools, patios with cover, and signs posted on private property.

Completed building permit applications, with supporting documents, can be submitted to the borough office. If a zoning permit is required (see above), this must be obtained prior to submitting the building permit application. Note: not all projects require a zoning permit.

Activities that require a building permit (some may require a zoning permit):
new construction / additions car ports, decks and fences
above or in-ground swimming pools accessary structures / sheds
new roof or partial roof replacement paved or concrete driveways
exterior siding and gutter replacement interior or exterior concrete work
kitchen and bath work window and/or door replacement
electrical work / furnace or boiler work interior remodeling and plumbing
new electrical service panel / pool heaters drywall and insulation
finished basements garage work
foundation work demolition

Dumpster Permit $25.00 (all dumpsters on roadway or on property; for construction or general clean up)
